Teaching a Tiddlywampus to Knit

Occasionally I find I am alone with only one of my children, which is always a treat.
No. 1 was helping her dad with firewood, and the two babies were napping, so the Tiddlywampus and I had a chance to spend some time together.

She learned to crochet at age 5, and prides herself in the length of chain she can create.

Today we decided she was going to learn to knit.

After 15 minutes of me holding my hands over hers, guiding the stitches

she was on her own and doing fantastic.

As she was knitting, it gave her lots of time to ponder life and ask questions.  Like what her Great Grandpa was like, why I like to make things and how I learned how to sew. She asks what we would have named her if she was a boy and if I liked french toast better than pancakes.  We talked about my first job and was my boss mean? I needed to give her the names of all of my dogs growing up and is she my favorite little girl?  Her eyes sparkled and she smiled when I told her she was one of my four favorite daughters

Soon enough she and I each had something to show for our time.  I told her at this rate she would have a pretty honeysuckle pink scarf to wear next winter.

Daisy's Table Bed

Litte Daisy is not so little anymore.  She turned 3 in October and we decided it was time to get her out of her crib.  The older girls were in twin beds by age 2, but with Daisy, we just never felt the need to rush it.  She loves her crib, feels secure; we were comforted that she couldn't hop out in the middle of the night.

Her toddler bed was delivered yesterday, she and I put it together with ease.  She calls it her "Table Bed" (Table Bed =Toddler Bed) And she says it looks "like a table, just like all the other beds in this house!"  I sometimes wish that for just one day I could see the world through their eyes.

I found this vintage dresser at my favorite thrift shop last week.  It gorgeous old glass knobs, the girls love it for the mirror.

She actually stayed in her bed through Night 1, and napped in it today.  I'm so relieved! I figured she would be up all night going potty just because she could helping herself to drinks of water, playing with her toys or jumping in bed with her sisters.

Warmth

Staying warm inside the house while it's so cold outside.  We had a long weekend of sewing. I made these jars from a tutorial on dottie angel.  The little girls worked on some embroidery.  They've been taking their drawings, transfering them to cloth and stitching away.

I just got this painting in the mail from the extremely talented Danita.  I love it.

My Little Isla is getting so grown up...

She's wearing her sisters crochet elf hat.

Great Grandma Shirley gave it to Liv for Christmas, the little ones like to borrow it because it ties up under their chin chopper.  I like it because all you can see is her pretty little face & sweet chubby cheeks.

Amigurumi Anyone?

She doesn't look exactly like the picture, but I don't think I did too bad for my first time!

This is the pattern, from Owlishly

I need to work on getting my stitches closer together, you can see some of the stuffing through the crochet. But for the most part, it was so much easier than I thought it would be!  You definatly cannot miss a stich, use a stitch marker and cross off each row as it's completed. ( I just used a safety pin) I still need to give her some seashells and a smile, but little #3 wisked her off as soon as I finished her hair
She loves her.

I also have these patterns

This is Nichole, I love her little shoes!

And of course....

can you guess her name???
